Into Arakan

21 Day

After visiting the commercial capital of Yangon and the royal city of Mandalay, guests will be taken to Bagan to see the ancient stupas, and then venture to secluded villages to sample the local toddy wine. From Inle Lake travellers will hike to the Pa-O village of Hti Ne, where they will stay overnight and witness the quiet intimacies of a Myanmar village after lights-out.

In Arakan, now known as Rakhine State, travellers will take a boat up the sprawling Kaladan River to Mrauk U. Known to early European merchants as the ‘Venice of the East’, Mrauk U thrived off trade over the Bay of Bengal before being sacked by the Burmese in the 19th Century.

You will also visit the original site of the Mahamuni Buddha Image, believed in Myanmar to the best likeness of Lord Gautama Buddha found in the world today.

The journey will conclude upon the white sands of Ngapali, Myanmar's finest coastal strip.
