We are still here! Let us send you tips for travelling through Myanmar and stories from the road …
This is a journey for travellers that may have visited Burma years ago; maybe they have ancestors who once worked here. Either way, they are travellers who know about the country, have read and heard much on the history and culture, and now want to see it with their own eyes and feel it with their own hands.
This journey begins in Yangon before heading up to Mandalay, Burma’s last royal city. You will then be welcome aboard the indulgent Sanctuary Ananda and cruise down the Ayeyarwaddy towards Bagan – there will be fine food, fine wine, spectacular sunsets, and habitual forays into villages and towns along the way. You will be led into Shan State, exploring Inle before embarking on a trek into the ethnic Pa’O territory – no “cultural shows” or force jollity! You will travel on to the former British Hill station of Kalaw to visit a retirement home for elephants from the timber trade before kicking-back with six days at Ngapali Beach.
This morning you will be greeted upon arrival at Yangon Airport and taken to your hotel in Yangon’s Embassy Quarter.
Today you will be left at leisure to acclimatize and enjoy the resplendent garden of your hotel.
