Hotels in Myanmar
Since Myanmar tourism opened up in 2012, finding glorious accommodation throughout the price spectrum has become much easier. When staying at a hotel in Yangon guests can recline in courtyards encircled by grandiose colonial architecture; bamboo bungalows shaded by palm trees are on offer at the beaches of Ngwe Suang and Ngapali; and cosy lodges with wood-fires are ready to welcome intrepid travellers to Chin State in the north. When delving deeper into the country and off the well-trodden path, there is less choice in luxury hotels as many of these regions have only recently opened to foreigners and tourism is still in its infancy. However, in our opinion, the relative simplicity of the Myanmar hotels up in the northern states of Chin and Kachin or down south towards the Mergui Archipelago only adds to their charm and enriches the overall experience of visitors to the more far-flung parts of the country. Many of the hotels in Myanmar allow visitors to continue engaging in the country's rich culture and heritage when off the streets.
