Han Thar Gardens

Though only a couple hours drive outside of Yangon, not many travellers make it to Bago. Bago was the old capital of the Second Burmese Empire. Having originally been a important port and the seat of power for Mon kings, Bago boasts the tallest pagoda in the country as well as the ruins of the ancient city.

Situated on its edge is Han Thar Gardens. Few hotels are as peaceful as this one, meaning that it has become a favourite weekend getaway for many urbanites living in the rush of Yangon. With a broad, expansive reception-restaurant-lounge area looking out over the luscious Bago countryside, guests can open their lungs to fresh countryside air and recharge batteries worn-down by the grind of city life. Enjoy the a la carte breakfast and snuggle down into the deep sofas until it is time to gorge on a Sunday Roast. One can slip up to the treehouse or into the den beneath it to play board games and dive into the book shelves.

A great bonus of this hotel is that from here it can often take less time to reach Yangon International Hotel than from downtown Yangon itself. Therefore, Han Thar Gardens offers a rejuvenating stay after a journey touring Myanmar.
