Kumudra Hill

Kumudra Hotel is set on the hill overlooking the town of Hsipaw from the west. Guests can enjoy sunrise from their balcony or from the breezy rooftop terrace. The hotel offers a free transport service to and from the town (a five-minute drive) and is situated near both the waterfall and Buddhist cemetery. These are both worth visiting either as a half-day activity or as part of a longer trek up to the Palaung tea growing villages in the hills that surround Hsipaw.

Kumudra Hill's Horizon restaurant offers the best western cuisine to be found in Hsipaw, with top-notch wine and tip-top service from the obliging staff. All of the hotel's rooms are spacious and (save for the two singles) come with expansive balconies with views over the town. Chic and elegant, there is nothing lavish or ostentatious about this hotel. (That is, save for the jacuzzis that come with two of the rooms.) Kumudra Hill offers Hsipaw's first swimming pool, surrounded by the vegetable patches that supply the restaurant kitchen.

This is undoubtedly one of the finest hotels in Hsipaw, if not all of Shan State.
