The Strand Cruise

Luxury Cruise between Bagan & Mandalay

The Strand Cruise, sister to the luxury heritage hotel The Strand, is every bit as majestic as one might expect.

The ship sails between Mandalay and Bagan on two, three, and four night cruises. In addition to enjoying the serenity of the grand Ayeyarwady River, guests on board will be taken to explore cultural and historical highlights such as the Mahamuni Pagoda and Hsinbyume Pagoda in Inwa, as well as the Ananda and Sulamani temples in Bagan.

The interior of the Strand Cruise has been designed with teak parquet flooring, elegant décor, and other decorative elements reminscing Myanmar's rich handicraft. The cabins are both cosy and plush, and equipped with Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, cabled television, floor-to-ceiling windows, a desk for scribbling correspondence, and an armchair for reading. (On this particular voyage, we would recommend something in the vein of Kipling’s 'Plain Tales from the Hills' …)

On the upper deck, guests will enjoy fine dining courtesy of the Strand Restaurant, with dishes spanning the cuisines of Europe and the Far East, as well as Burmese specialties. There is also a wellness spa, a souvenir shop, a gym, and an outdoor pool around which are fanned sun loungers.

The ship is peppered with maps and paintings, photographs and handicrafts that, when coupled with the exemplary service, celebrate the majesty of Imperial Burma and the “golden age of the Strand as a meeting place for explorers and raconteurs.”

FLASH POINT: The communal spaces of the Strand Cruise allow for an airier and more expansive experience than is the case on other ships.
