We are still here! Let us send you tips for travelling through Myanmar and stories from the road …
Our purpose is to create bridges between our guests and local people. To help travellers make a connection through unexpected encounters, to open their eyes to the possible and dive deep into remote destinations. All our journeys attempt to have a positive impact on local communities.
Our journeys are handcrafted. We offer full customization through an intimate service and personal recommendations. Sampan’s team is based on-the-ground. This means that we are able to greet most of our guests in person upon arrival. It also ensures that we are in rhythm with the beat of the region, abreast of developments and intimately familiar with our partners. We try everything before we recommend it to our guests.
Sampan is committed to creating journeys that have a positive impact on local communities. We do not shy away from the troubles that afflict the destinations to which we bring our guests. Through conscious travel, we are determined to help Myanmar and India become not only better places to visit, but also better places to live. Sampan was the third tour operator in Myanmar to be Travelife Certified and we have been winners at the Myanmar Responsible Tourism Awards in 2017, 2018 and 2019. In 2020 our magazine won a PATA Gold Award. Our sustainability policy can be read in full here: https://www.sampantravel.com/about-us/responsible-travel/
We believe that when coupled with creativity, our commitment to responsible travel – at heart, simply a compassion for the people and places our guests visit – does not detract from a holiday but enriches it. This kind of travel can be transformative travel. Travel that does not suspend reality but instead encourages engagement with new realities. This is honest, authentic travel. Slow travel.
Sampan is a member of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), the Myanmar Tourism Marketing Association (MTM), The Conscious Travel Foundation, The Insider Collective and both the British Chamber of Commerce and EuroCham in Myanmar.
