The Sampan Club was created to acknowledge the many guests who have chosen to travel on Sampan’s small-group journeys. The Club offers access to members-only events; as well as early-booking for other events; and discounted prices when they join new journeys and bring others with them.

Since 2015, Sampan has designed bespoke, hand-crafted private journeys in Myanmar. Following our expansion into India and Bangladesh, we now also operate a series of specialist small-group journeys led by recognised experts in their fields – such as Rob Lyman on the Burma Campaign, or Abir Mukherjee on 1920s Calcutta.

Any guest who has joined one of our specialist small-group journeys automatically becomes a member of The Sampan Club.

Join us for an exclusive Sampan Club members-only online conversation with acclaimed historian and author Ira Mukhoty as she explores the remarkable life and enduring legacy of the Rani of Jhansi, one of the defining figures of the Indian Uprising of 1857. Celebrated for her vivid storytelling and meticulous research, Ira brings a fresh perspective to a woman whose courage, leadership and determination have inspired generations, while separating history from the myths that have grown around her. In conversation with Sampan’s Bertie Alexander, the discussion will examine the Rani’s life, the turbulent events that shaped her, and why her story continues to resonate in India and beyond. Discount on Specialist Small-Group Journeys

Past participants of any Sampan small-group tour are eligible for a 10 per cent discount on forthcoming group departures, subject to the following conditions:

• The discount applies when the returning guest or guests make a new booking that includes at least one additional room for new travellers.
• In effect, a minimum of two rooms must be booked:
  • one room for the returning guest(s); and
  • one room for the new guest(s) they bring.
• The accompanying new travellers will also receive a 10 per cent discount.

This structure enables us to welcome returning guests while expanding the circle of travellers who join our expert-led explorations across Myanmar, India, and Bangladesh.
