The Inle Stilt Houses are part of the Inle Heritage House complex, founded so to allow children of the lake the chance to grow up amongst the ‘diverse peoples, unique traditions and rare natural wealth of the Inle region.’
Heritage House celebrates the diverse ethnic culture of the lake. The Inthar ‘Grandmother’s Recipe’ dishes at the restaurant are superb, after which one can meet the clowder of Burmese cats, the oldest of whom Heritage House reintroduced to Burma themselves.
Located off the heart of the lake, those staying on the Stilts will not be plagued by the noise of early morning boats. The boutique rooms are elegant and each comes with a spacious veranda. Designed in Inthar style, guests never leave the ambience of the ‘Sons of the Lake’.
By staying at the Inle Lake Stilt Houses guests are supporting the fantastic work that the Heritage Foundation does, not only in working to help clean the lake, but also in protecting the wildlife, and helping local youth get a head start in the hospitality industry.
From the Stilt Houses guests can take part in cookery classes, canoeing, and early morning bird watching.
