Hotel by the Red Canal

Ornate and majestic while at the same time intimate and cosy, Hotel by the Red Canal is one of the finest hotels in Mandalay. The service is attentive, enthusiastic and guaranteed to please. Charming complimentary add-ons such as Asian knick-knacks and free drinks at cocktail hour are indicative of the accommodating and welcoming ambience of the Red Canal Hotel Mandalay. There are 25 suites that are categorised by four ethnic groups in Myanmar: Chin, Kachin, Rakhine and Shan. Some come with outdoor stone showers, others with balconies looking over the garden, others sitting upon the little stream that runs through the hotel.

Dining at the hotel’s Spice Garden restaurant guests will be able to sample some of the best Indian food in Mandalay, if not the whole of Myanmar. Though built almost entirely in luscious teak, the floor to ceiling windows ensure that the restaurant is well lit. Ornate colonial bow-legged tables are set about the place, and if one so wishes it is possible to eat al fresco. Hotel by the Red Canal is free from all the bland conformity found in so many hotel chains, and is therefore one of the most interesting and charming hotels in Mandalay.
